Kennedys recently delivered a complex A-Class asbestos removal project involving approximately 1,000 metres of friable asbestos lagging on a redundant heater pipe system.
Led by Project Manager Stephen Weeks, with on-site supervision by Adam Leamer, a team of seven highly trained asbestos removal technicians completed the project.
Due to the scale and risks associated with friable asbestos, the project required precise planning, expert execution, and strict compliance with WorkSafe safety standards.
To access the affected pipework, scaffolding was carefully installed, providing the team with a secure platform to complete the removal. Once in place, a fully sealed enclosure was constructed around the pipe system, ensuring hazardous materials remained contained throughout the process.
Comprehensive safety measures were implemented, including a negative pressure enclosure to prevent airborne asbestos fibres from leaving the work area. In addition, all team members followed strict decontamination protocols via a three-stage decontamination shower unit, ensuring the highest levels of safety for both workers and the surrounding environment.
Collaboration with the client was prioritised at every stage, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations.
This project is a strong example of our capability in managing high-risk asbestos works with professionalism, care and an unwavering focus on safety.
