From April to May 2024, Kennedys Group’s Geelong branch partnered with Barwon Asset Solutions to refurbish a critical water storage facility in Lorne known as “Teddy’s Tank.”
Located near Teddy’s Lookout, the 218,000-litre tank plays an important role in supporting water security throughout the region. To maintain long-term reliability, the facility required significant refurbishment works and structural upgrades.
Project Manager Stephen Camilleri led the project alongside a team of four skilled plumbers who delivered the works safely and efficiently within the operational environment.
The project commenced with the complete drainage and isolation of the tank to allow safe access for refurbishment activities. Following isolation, our team completed a full roof restoration to address ageing infrastructure and improve long-term durability across the facility.
Kennedys Group also installed a new aluminium roof frame, aluminium roof sheeting, and updated flashings throughout the structure. In addition, the project included a new roof hatch, upgraded roof access systems, and safety handrails to improve future maintenance access and site safety.
The project team selected aluminium materials for their non-corrosive properties and long-term performance within coastal environments. This approach will help extend the lifespan of the facility while supporting the sustainable operation of Lorne’s water infrastructure.
Working within a critical utility asset required detailed planning, strong safety controls, and close coordination throughout every stage of construction. Through careful execution and quality workmanship, the team successfully delivered a long-term infrastructure solution for the client.
