From April 2022 through to March 2025, Kennedys Group has been a key delivery partner in the redevelopment of St Kilda Pier, providing major hydraulic, fire service, sewer and gas service infrastructure upgrades. This multi-year project called on the experience of our Dandenong team, who brought together complex staging, marine access and detailed hydraulic planning to support the transformation of this iconic public space.
Over the course of the project, we had a team of 12 expert plumbers contributing to the works, with major contributors including Leading Hand Brandon Bailey and plumbers David Friend, Markus Spindler and Trevor Paulet. Senior Project Manager Mark Ferlazzo and the Asbestos and Environmental team from Williamstown also stepped in to support the environmental requirements of working over water, ensuring all activities met strict compliance and safety obligations.
Our scope included new fire service mains and booster infrastructure, suspended stainless steel systems beneath the pier, sewer pump installations, relocated trade waste systems, domestic water upgrades, dual ABS saltwater intake lines and gas services run through the pier’s service culverts.
These works were delivered in a live and sensitive marine environment where the pier and marina remained operational throughout construction. Much of the work required tight access beneath the pier, with sections only reachable by barge, demanding precision, high-level safety management and strong coordination between our team and the client.
Although the project works concluded in March 2025, our involvement has not ended. Project Manager Billy Davies now manages the ongoing scheduled maintenance and reactive repairs, supporting the client with long-term asset performance and reliability. This continued partnership reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes and standing beside our clients long after the construction phase is complete.
