Kennedys Group delivered a targeted upgrade to a gymnasium, with a clear focus on meeting building compliance and resolving ongoing roof leaks that had long impacted the facility.
The client had been dealing with persistent water ingress, which affected the reliability and day to day use of the space. Following a detailed review of the structure, our team identified that the original roofing profile did not suit the building. We addressed this by installing new, fit for purpose roofing to improve water run off and deliver a long term solution. This marked a turning point for the project and restored confidence in the building’s performance.
Alongside the roofing works, we delivered a series of upgrades to strengthen the building overall. These works included external cladding improvements, the installation of fire rated shutters to glazing, and weather and smoke sealing to all external doors. We also installed subfloor vent protection and removed combustible materials within a 10 metre radius of the building. The team replaced existing timber retaining walls with concrete sleeper retaining walls, improving durability and reducing ongoing maintenance requirements.
This project required a genuine team effort. In total, 35 Kennedys Group team members contributed to the works, including technicians from our Geelong and Williamstown branches who supported delivery on site. This level of collaboration allowed us to maintain efficiency while upholding a high standard of quality throughout the project.
The result is a safer and more reliable gymnasium that now performs as intended. The roofing issue has been resolved, and the building is better prepared for future use. It highlights the value of understanding the root cause of a problem and delivering a solution that provides long term outcomes.
