Our Williamstown Asbestos & Environmental team recently completed a large-scale soil remediation project in Laverton, focused on restoring the site to a safe and sustainable condition for future community use.
Led by Senior Project Manager Mark Ferlazzo and supported by a team of four, the works were carefully planned and executed to meet strict environmental and safety requirements.
Working closely with the client, the team established clear abatement zones and excavation depths, managing multiple soil stockpiles to enable a staged approach to the works. With the site located near public areas, particular care was taken to protect existing playground equipment, trees, and concrete pathways throughout the process.
In total, approximately 3,500 tonnes of contaminated soil were safely removed and transported off-site for disposal. Final air monitoring and visual clearance via an independent hygienist confirmed the safe and successful removal of contaminants and verified the site’s compliance with all health and safety standards.
This project demonstrates Kennedys Group’s commitment to delivering environmentally responsible solutions that make a tangible difference to the community. Through remediation, the site now provides a safer, cleaner, and more sustainable environment for residents of Laverton to enjoy well into the future.
