Kennedys Group ‘a better way’ Community Grant

Kennedys Group has a long history of supporting our team members to have a positive social impact and in giving back to their communities.

The team are avid fundraisers for causes like cancer research and support for children living with disability, they’re advocates for mental health, and current sponsors of a number of community sporting organisations.

The team have also volunteered their time and skills to providing access to clean drinking water and sanitation in communities that need it most.

Reece Foundation
– Working with tradies for a better world.

Safe drinking water is precious, and much of the world is in a water crisis. In Ethiopia, a third of the population is without access to safe drinking water. In fact, 7.5 percent of the global water crisis is in Ethiopia alone.

Doing something about it

When plumber and Founder, Allan Kennedy learned about the Ethiopian water crisis from the Reece Foundation – and that Reece was able to support a plumbing install in the remote town of Hudad, Ethiopia – he jumped on the chance.

The journey

The team love an adventure – and they got it! A 12,000-kilometer flight, 8-hour drive, hiking to 3000-foot altitude, digging trenches, fitting, and meeting amazing, hardworking locals. An unforgettable experience that impacted Allan and the team as much as the town of Hudad.

The result

The community gained access to safe water for the first time, ever. Fresh, clean water for washing hands, preparing food, taking medicine, drinking and eating are now ‘on tap’. Plumbing know-how was shared with locals, so in future, they can make repairs to the system.

Kennedys Group was built on plumbing, with a passion for bringing clean, safe water to everyone. We thank the Reece Foundation for the opportunity to do this where it was especially needed.
